My whirlwind tour of 12 Things

RSS is definitely my favorite exercise so far. It's so relevant and convenient for my life, and I think that it will really increase the volume of new information I can take in. I'm especially excited to use my google reader to keep up to date with current debates and discussions over education policy and reform. There is so much happening, so quickly, in this field, that it often seems overwhelming just to stay informed. I really look forward to seeing how my new reader helps with this.

Exploring Flickr today is actually just perfect time wise, since I just bought a new camera for Christmas, and I've been looking for ways to upgrade my photography and sharing.

I found this image of some graffiti/street art in Chile that I really love. It reminds me of graffiti I saw in Northern Italy this summer.
I've been thinking lately how important visuals are for the learning experience. In going through all the course evaluations from my seminars so far, I notice that one of the most frequent comments from participants is their interest in visual aides. So many teachers either rave about especially great power point presentations, maps, posters etc. I find that many teachers have a much more difficult time connecting with presentations that lack images, even when the content is exceptional.

Exploring Flickr and thinking about art and photography made me think of this.

So in the spirit of the New Year, I have resolved to really get to work on the 12 Things.
Obviously, I am quite behind, but I suppose it's better late than never.

I look forward to exploring everything in the next couple of days.
I think that I have lots to learn about.
